Kiwi Prefab: Cottage to Cutting Edge
Architectural innovation, digitally designed homes and eco-friendly building were showcased in New Zealand's first prefab housing exhibition, Kiwi Prefab: Cottage to Cutting Edge - held at New Plymouth's Puke Ariki from 1 December 2012 - 1 April 2013.
Developed by Puke Ariki and Victoria University of Wellington, Kiwi Prefab highlighted the movement of prefabrication from mass-produced buildings to highly personalised, architecturally designed, eco-friendly dwellings of the day – and unveiled possibilities for the future.
Four full-sized dwellings erected on Prefab Landing provoked and inspired; a timeline in Prefab Gallery enabled visitors to delve into our prefabricated past and present and discover what our prefabricated future might look like; and a packed events programme stimulated participation and conversation on what our built future might look like.
